Kagoshima Trip Day 4

20120802-KagoshimaDay4-7

Our last day in Kagoshima was spent in and near Kagoshima-chuo station and at the airport. We had a nice relaxing day exploring the airport, shopping for omiyage, and riding the Ferris wheel. You can see the photos HERE.

On the Ferris wheel Mia took the camera into her own hands and took a few photos of herself.

  1. What a fun trip you had...
Love Love Love the one of you and Mia at breakfast using your phones but in a way it is also very scary ?
If the volcano is always sending ash over the city and looking back at the other photos of the ash covered cars.... how come the city and air looks so clean ?

    cheers, parsnip

  2. Yea, she's about as good at using her phone as Yuko is!

On the 3rd day there was a big typhoon and that helped. Also the ash really only blows West-Southwest from the volcano right over the center of Kagoshima. This is due to winds and where the crater is located. The city is not very scared of being hit by an explosion. The last big one sent lava flowing down the opposite side of the volcano connecting the once island of Sakurajima with the mainland of Kyushu. Anyhow, drive a few KM north or south of the city proper and you're free of ash.
